Taiwan – Tainan; 2 Days Trip; Day1 Tainan Flower Night Market (4)

Hi! More food you may ask? Yup…. you are right on the dot!. This is one of nicest night market I have been (for food I mean) aside from Taipei’s Shihlin Night market which I think has become to touristy and also not much food choices. This is my personal opinion though.

Ok. Let get back to the food.. opps I meant the e-walk in the night market. =P

What’s this? Well.. it’s banana coated with chocolate. I did not try is as I needed to be selective as I have limited space in my stomach. LOL!!! Anyone tried it before?

As usual… human jam all along the night market. Packed to the brim!

Singapore Laksa noodles?? Did I see it correctly? Wow….  For laksa, the best one you should try is in Malaysia’s Penang laksa. One and only one.

I have not tried it… but I just wonder how it tasted. Guess it will not be spicy for my liking. Anyone?

20140426-095051 pm.jpg

Duck and it’s innards. This is one of the favourite that I seen when I was in Taiwan. Quite common everywhere.

Pick and choose what you want…..

and this one, it is one of the famous snacks in Tainan. It is called the coffin bread. Why you may ask? Well.. they will cut an opening in the middle of the thick toasted bread and then put in chicken soup in the middle and then cover it back with the piece that they have cut earlier. So, it does look like a coffin but it is square in shape. You will see a more clearer one in my coming posting.

Again…. packed with people!!!

Taiwan – Tainan; 2 Days Trip; Day1 Tainan Flower Night Market (1)

Hi all!! Thanks again for joining me here. Hope you enjoy my detour on the Malaysia – Penang’s Rifle Range Morning Market for Breakfast posting.

Let’s get back to my Taiwan Trip.

Checked in and all ready for my evening walk in Tainan city. If you have missed my early half, do drop in and have a look;

Ok. Let’s get ‘walking’. =)

On the main road a block  away from my hostel, I saw this art creation in front of a restaurant. Can anyone guess what is it made of?

20140426-094345 pm.jpg

Walking on the street in Tainan at night, you get to see a lot of things (I opt not to take the taxi or the bus)

20140426-094352 pm.jpg

Where was I heading to? Well you guessed it. Taiwan night market. This is one the famous ones which is called the Tainan Flower night market. (P.S If you are planning to walk from Tainan train station to this night market, yes you can but be prepare to walk for about an hour to get there!!)

Just look at the crowd at the night market even before I arrived. There were just rows and rows of scooters parked.

20140426-094359 pm.jpg

People were practically walking back to back.

20140426-094409 pm.jpg

Stalls at both sides…..

20140426-094420 pm.jpg

Kids (and not to mention adults too!) love to come to night market as there are games and soft toys to win.

More food…..

Malaysia; Penang’s Rifle Range Morning Market for breakfast

Hi.. sorry for deviating from my Taiwan’s Tainan history walk. Well.. thought I change the site for this one posting before I go back to my 2nd Day walk in Tainan.

Rifle Range? Well. it is no  more one (but it used to be). It is one the most densely populated area in Penang Island. Built back in 1969. It was also the 1st country low cost high rise accommodation.

There are total 9 blocks of 17-storey buildings within an area of 16.7ha, with every floor consisting of 20 units of single bedrooms and four two bedroom units.

That total up to a 3,888 units within the flats, the average size of a unit is merely 340 sq ft! So can also imagine the number of cars and motorbikes in these area. A Penangites can tell you if you choose to park your car near the flats in the evening, the chances of your car being blocked by other cars is almost 100%!!

But lately they have improved the parking system and also the flow is much better. Yup, you can say that its been a while since I was here (more like a few years ago)

They have also repainted the blocks and it does look more eye pleasing as compared to before.

Ok enough. Let get to the interesting part. To get to the food court, I have to go through the wet market and then a long alley passing small stalls on both side selling from clothes to accessories. Lots of things to looks at and also the prices are reasonable too.

Me walking through……

Stall selling clothes….

IMG_7812.JPG

After going through….. then we are at the food court. Yup a long alley of food court with lots of food choice to pick from under 1 roof; chinese food, malay food, Indian food  and hawker food.

IMG_7813.JPG

so, what do you like to eat?

IMG_7815.JPG

Looks at the crowd. Most of the tables were taken up. You can order and they will deliver the food to your table.

IMG_7814.JPG

This stall is selling nasi lemak (coconut rice) with a small fired fish for Rm1.20 (used to be rm1.00). Heard that this stall has been selling for more than 20 years here (or maybe even more).

IMG_7816.JPG

This was the stall I stopped by to have my breakfast.

IMG_7817.JPG

This is their mee suah kor…. and yes, it is indeed yummy!!! To me, it is as good the one famous in Taiwan.

IMG_7818.JPG

Dry char hor fun….

IMG_7820.JPG

This was some side fried snacks which I bought from a food vendor nearby. Nice and crispy.

IMG_7819.JPG

This is a place I would come again for breakfast and also to do some shopping as parking has improved so much. Oh yes… the wet market also sell fresh seafood at a very much reasonable price as compared to other area of Penang Island. =)
