USA – Las Vegas; The City that never sleeps (5)

Hi!! Nice to know that you are still with me on my series. If you have not started following me, pls do so. I have more -etravel series coming along.  As for my faithful followers and readers, sorry for the long silence for the last 3 months. Been busy with work and travelling, and more travelling to come. Yup, that means more series and write ups.

For now, let’s move on with this series of my trip in Las Vegas.

Where was I? Oh yes… in Caesar’s Palace. I have seen many normal elevator that goes straight up or down but never a spiral one. This is 1st time I saw of this kind. From the side, you will think that it is just a spiral stairs that one would have to walk up and down but until I saw people moving up steady without moving their body or legs. That really caught my eyes.

Not sure where else you can find these now but definitely it was my 1st back then.

20130807-194730.jpg

Next stop; Mirage Hotel & Casino. Nothing much here. Did not go inside. Anything interesting inside there?

20130807-194745.jpg

Street stalls on the side of the Imperial hotel. This guy or artist was doing painting using paint spray art ..

20130807-194802.jpg

This hotel was really one of kind back then; The Venetian. One of the best so far that I visited. I believe the one in Macau nearly has the same build but I prefer the one in LV. =)

Taiwan – Tainan; 2 Days Trip on History of Day 2 (4)

Hello!!! Well if you missed my early posting, it’s on my cruise to see the mangroves and also the wildlife along the canal.

In fact, this posting is on my trip back to the canal station or beginning point. Now I am enjoying the view from the opposite direction.

20140420-102229 pm.jpg

20140420-102237 pm.jpg

Saying ‘hi’to the other canal cruise folks who is heading the opposite direction. I guess you can see why we were all wearing the straw hats. The sky is so clear with so little clouds. Yup…. it was hot!!

20140420-102244 pm.jpg

This is a shot which I took after my canal cruise from a bridge across the canal where the cruise boat will go under.

20140420-102253 pm.jpg

Next to the canal cruise, is a beautiful architecture of the temple; Dazhong Temple. It is a legendary temple with almost 300 years of history. In fact, Dazhong means “mass of people”. It used to be a temple for ancestors or unknown deaths around the neighborhood.

Shots from the front of the Dazhong temple.

20140422-095331 pm.jpg

This is a shot from the side…

20140422-095338 pm.jpg

In the temple, you will see many paintings on the wall and roof telling traditional Chinese stories and a beautiful caisson, a spider web ceiling, when you look up. There are also many other statues of deities and generals being worshiped in the temple.

Wanna see what’s inside? Then follow me on the next posting. =)

Taiwan – Tainan; 2 Days Trip on History of Day 2 (3)

Hi there!! Sorry for slightly late posting on this series. Yup, I was in Taiwan again just last week (for business trip). Guess from the messages on these series that I have gotten, yes, this is indeed an interesting place. Something different from other countries.

So, still in Sihcao park in the Ecological area in Tainan on a canal cruise to see the mangroves.

A slow ride with tour guide explaining on the history and also on the mangroves and the wildlife in this area. Like I mentioned earlier posting, it was explained in Mandarin and also Hokkien (one of the Chinese dialects)

Beautiful mangrove forming an ‘arch’ across the canal with their bright green leaves.

20140420-101952 pm.jpg

.. maybe not all of them have green leaves.

Anyway, let you enjoy the beautiful pictures. Guess they will tell a whole lot.

Thailand; Bangkok – Amphawa Floating Market (6)

This is my last series of the Amphawa Floating Market in Thailand.

As you can see from my earlier 5 parts, Amphawa floating market does offer lots of local food; hot cooked food to cold dishes and dessert to choose from. Be sure to head there with an empty stomach and you will go back with a full stomach and a big smile on your face (if you are daring to try all of them and also depends on the limit of your stomach to handle the amount and varieties available)

As seen below more dessert which I manage to shot along the market.

20140413-091257 pm.jpg

Not sure what are these though. Anyone?

20140413-091306 pm.jpg

20140413-091315 pm.jpg

Tuk tuk also can be seen near the road at the market.

20140413-091329 pm.jpg

Walking along the shops near from the canal.

20140413-091339 pm.jpg

It was sunset. We head to the other part of the canal where you can catch boats for a ride along the canal.

20140413-091346 pm.jpg

At this part, not many stalls but still there were lots of people. Here was more of an area where locals or tourists could catch a ride on the boats.

More food. Anyone knows what’s this?

20140413-091009 pm.jpg

There are lots more of food choices here and  the other side. Guess there were way too many to choose from (and also limitation to my stomach storage too. =P )

20140413-091018 pm.jpg

Hi! I am still at Amphawa Floating Market. Walking along the canal with eyes wide open (technically speaking. LOL!!) and camera ready is one thing you must do. Too many action and activities to shot. Ok.. back to the posting.

Along there, you cant miss the local colourful handmade decoration lay out on a table.

20140413-090651 pm.jpg

Seen here, a local squatting at the side of the canal to order her food.

Thailand; Bangkok – Amphawa Floating Market (2)

Hi! Still walking around the Amphawa Floating Market in Samuk Songkhram. It was in the evening where locals and tourists are out in full force to enjoy the scenery and also  having their dinner by the canal.

People are practically enjoying their meal next to canal while watching the boats going by.

20140413-090011 pm.jpg

Seats are provided (if you can get one) along the canal where you can enjoy your meals too. There’s a walkway along the canal (both sides).

20140413-090057 pm.jpg

Some of the food that I tried (can’t really remember what they are)

20140413-090212 pm.jpg

Look at the pack overhead pedestrian bridge. People trying to get across while some are taking photos. So it does cause a massive human jam LOL!!!

20140413-090224 pm.jpg

Good? Well.. there’s more to come. This is only the beginning of the series of my journey in Amphawa Floating Market. Stay tune!!

Thailand; Bangkok – King Rama II Memorial Park @ Amphawa (1)

Back with me? That’s good. We still have more to go and more places to see (and  eat too!) Where are we heading to if you may ask?

Well, we will continue to Amphawa which is a village West of Bangkok, close to Samut Songkhram. Canal-side way in Amphawa is a way of life and takes place along the waterfront walkways of Amphawa Canal, a small tributary of the Mae Khlong River. During weekend, locals and also tourist will flock here for the evening floating market. Big queues emerge along the canal’s bridges and walkways market. More on this in my next series (now you know my next series, right? hint! hint!)

A bit of summary of this series. In the Ayutthaya Period, Amphawa was called Khwaeng Bang Chang and it was a small community that flourished in agriculture and trade. King Rama II was born in Amphawa, his mother’s hometown, as his father was ruling the town of Ratchaburi. At his probable birthplace is now the King Rama II Memorial Park which we will be heading too.

On the way to Amphawa, we stopped at the handicraft center. They specialized in (cute) miniature figurines from…

Cute little Muay Thai boxers ….

20140413-074334 am.jpg

to cute little small and colourful food

20140413-074351 am.jpg

Aren’t they adorable?

20140413-074404 am.jpg

Outside the Handicraft center, they have lots of flowers and orchids. So, if you are a flower lover, you will definitely enjoy the view.

Still traveling and enjoying the boat ride…

20140331-114253 am.jpg

Join me on my last part of this series.

Thailand – Bangkok, Visit to Damnoen Saduak Ratchaburi Floating Market (3)

Thanks for staying with me. The floating market in Damnoen Saduak is really interesting and lots of things to see (and photo shot too).

Lots of food which you can choose to try or buy from the vendors on the their boats.

20140331-113913 am.jpg

At the main part of the market, you can hop into a boat and take a ride along the canal.

20140331-113921 am.jpg

While in the boat, you can enjoy a slow ride (anyway the boat  driver cant go fast as the traffic is quite heavy)

20140331-113929 am.jpg

people taking photos from the boats..

20140331-113937 am.jpg

Going under a bridge. Stalls on the side selling their goods.

20140331-113944 am.jpg

As certain parts, the boat drivers have to turn off their motor and start pedaling as the flow on the canal is so congested with boats going in both direction.

20140331-113953 am.jpg

Another shot of vendors selling their good on the side.

20140331-114003 am.jpg

Interesting? Yup it is. More to picture coming……..
