Minions Rush or craze … that’s what I call it. Malaysian folks; young ones and the yuppies were going for the minions craze after the show ‘Despicable Me’.
McDonald in Malaysia and Singapore were giving out free Minions (while stocks last .. which only lasted like 2 hours or less) for each purchase of Happy Meal. They had a set 9 characters which was released over a period of few weeks and each time it was release it was sold out without hours.
So.. I took the jump in (what was i thinking off!!) and volunteered to queue up for my friend and see how crazy the Malaysian folks were on this Minions.
This was the numbered I got and this was even an hour before McDonald was opened. 300++!! (They just handed the number randomly to the people in the queue.. in actual I was like to 50th+ ppl in the line. =P )
The queue was getting longer as it gets closer to the opening time.
…. And they say that the queue start here!!
Finally got the 2 minions.
Looks cute to think if it. Haha.

indonesians crave for the minions as well but thank God i didn’t see any rush at McDonald’s. Haha.

In fact.. this is was the last rush for the last 2 characters and this was really mild. The 1st 7 was even worse. It was a chaotic scene until one of the McDonald shutter down was damage by crowd pushing at other parts. =)

haha yup!!! I think it is like the crowd lining up for the launch any new Apple products. haha
wow that’s crazy. it’s really popular over here in the US too but no waiting in line.
Yup it is!! Actually it is also popular here in Malaysia too. Guess it is limited stock and comes free with a purchase of a Happy meal. So why not, right?
How strange. This minion craz is very new I suppose.
Not really. I heard Minions was already out back in 2010 but thanks to technology and youtube… it got viral and then the craze begins. =)
Man, and I thought the Hello Kitty craze in Singapore was crazy!
Haha.. Hello Kitty craze also hit Malaysia too. Guess this was the other one. McDonald was smart to market the right product ad the right time.
Just shows that people are nuts all over the world!
haha.. yup nuts over minions but surprisingly it only became famous after the show; ‘Despicable Me’. Heard that minions was out a couple of years already.. and this show was a follow up of the earlier one.
We also had those Happy Meal minions days before Despicable Me 2 opened in our theaters, but there was no rush and no long queue like in your pics 😀 People here too are crazy with them, esp. the Kids! and I am so exhausted making crochet minion beanies due to the craze. >.<
ohh.. you made crochet minion beanies? I would like to see them. Well.. the minions are really cute and not even kids loved them but also adults too. =)

Got starved at the queue line and I decided to eat somewhere else then went back there. Unfortunately when I got back, they had already out of the minions. Too bad. 😦
Guess these minions are giving Apple lovers a tough fight too; selling like hot cakes. haha!!!
