Today.. we took a drive out. For me, it was day rest from cycling (excuses only LOL!!) The journey took us about 4 hrs; a slow and scenic view.
Brief intro of Lake Tahoe. It is the large freshwater lake in Sierra Nevada and the largest alpine lake in North America, with a surface elevation of 1,897m . Located along the border between California and Nevada, west of Carson City. Its depth is 501 m, making it the second-deepest in the United States and is listed as the 26th largest lake by volume in the world at 150.68249 km3.
View along the way to Lake Tahoe.
The place was dominated by a mixed conifer forest….
Reaching at Lake Tahoe… it was more of a tourist attraction place in both Nevada and California. It has a number of ski resorts, summer outdoor recreation, and tourist attractions. The time I went was summer so no snow but just lots of sun. Close by was also lots of casinos but at the Nevada side which we did not head there.
Ducks baking in the sun.
Clear blue sky over Lake Tahoe.
As the lake perimeter was huge, we took a drive along its perimeter.
One of our stops was the Inspiration Point Vista (good place to come to get new ideas. HAHA!!)
To be continued…….
I had no idea Lake Tahoe was so large. Makes me want to see it someday.
Yup… it is really large. You should go there both summer and winter. I guess I was only there during summer but I guess winter will be as nice too if you like skiing. =)
Nice! We missed Lake Tahoe while my husband and myself were briefly in Nevada, but we’ve heard great things. We would definitely be driving around the perimeter too as we’re not big tourist travelers so we’d be looking to escape some of the crowds.
Thanks. It is nice drive along the lake side. If you can, try to rent the chalet along the lake side and have a great time there enjoying the sun and water. =)
I dreamed of traveling to U.S but it is good that you do post about these places. It gives me an idea of the best places to visit when I am already able to make it there 🙂
No problem. Keep following me on my posting to give you some ideas of other places too. =)
beautiful place.
Thanks!! 😊
