Turkey … a country with a long history and beautiful scenic views (13)

After visiting Ephesus, I headed to Pamakkale to see something very unusual.

But before heading there we stop at a small town for lunch and I took this abstract shot. Kinda nice to me. =)

What is so special about Pamakkale? Pamakkale meaning “cotton castle” in Turkish, is a natural site in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey. The city contains hot springs and travertines, terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water.

The terraces seen below are made of travertines, a sedimentary rock deposited by water from the hot springs.

People walking slowly barefoot on the terrace as it does get really slippery.
